Computing

In this modern age it is very important to be computer literate, and computer literacy is highly valued in the society. At the School we aim to provide the facilities to make our pupils competent users of information processors. Our commitment is coupled with the fact that we have the latest software’s and operating systems.

At Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8 And 9) Pupils Will:

We teach information communication technology according to the national curriculum as well as internet skills.

In KS3 Computing, we cover a range of topic areas and skills required at GCSE ICT. For those students who show a flair for programming and keen interest, GCSE Computer Science is offered. Students are assessed in the Autumn, Spring, and Summer terms, as well as end-of-topic tests and various activities throughout the year.

Year 7

  • Autumn: E-safety, Using Computers, Input/Output Devices, Memory
  • Spring: Spreadsheets, Databases, Graphics Design
  • Summer: Algorithms and Decomposition, Block Programming

Year 8

  • Autumn: Turtle Programming, Algorithms, Networking, The Internet
  • Spring: Data Representation, Text-Based Game Programming
  • Summer: Software and Hardware, Using Technology Safely

Year 9

  • Autumn: Programming Algorithms and Evaluation, Further Programming Techniques
  • Spring: Introduction to Linux, Artificial Intelligence
  • Summer: Cryptography, Boolean Logic and Processing

At Key Stage 4 (Years 10 And 11) Pupils Will:

Pupils are prepared to sit for their G.C.S.E. examination and extra help shall be given to the pupils for their ICT assignment and projects.

At GCSE ICT, we build on the knowledge and skills learned at KS3. Students are assessed in the Autumn, Spring, and Summer terms, as well as end-of-topic tests, mock exams, and various activities throughout the year. We encourage all pupils to independently study different topic areas in their spare time.

Physical Education (P.E.)

At Darul Hadis Latifiah Northwest we recognise the importance of physical development and fitness of the pupils. There for we arrange two compulsory P.E. lessons per class every week ranging in activities from football, cricket and many other sports. We also have basketball and tennis facilities.

Our KS3 PE curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. We aim to provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way that supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.
