Dear Parents/Guardians,
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
We hope this message finds you and your family in the best of health and Iman. As part of our effort to nurture a deep connection with Allah (SWT) and instill strong Islamic values in our students, our Theme of the Week at DHLNW is Hope in Allah (SWT).
Hope in Allah (SWT) is a cornerstone of faith and a means to find peace and motivation during times of difficulty. This theme emphasizes trusting in Allah’s mercy, believing in His promises, and striving towards goodness, knowing that He rewards every sincere effort.
Key Ayahs and Hadiths
We encourage you to reflect on and discuss the following with your children:
“Say, O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (Surah Az-Zumar, 39:53)
“Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.” (Surah Ash-Sharh, 94:6)
“Allah’s mercy overpowers His wrath.” (Sahih Bukhari)
These texts remind us of Allah’s boundless mercy and the importance of never losing hope in His forgiveness, blessings, and support.
Practical Tips to Support Your Child at Home
- Model Hope in Your Actions: Share stories of how you’ve relied on Allah’s help in challenging times. Express gratitude for His blessings and discuss how maintaining hope has been a source of strength in your life.
- Encourage Positive Dua: Teach your child to make heartfelt dua, asking Allah (SWT) for their needs and placing their trust in Him. Remind them of the hadith, “Dua is the weapon of the believer.”
- Reflect on Personal Efforts: Discuss the importance of tying one’s camel, i.e., making efforts while trusting Allah. For example, encourage them to prepare well for school tasks while trusting Allah (SWT) for the results.
- Recognize and Reward Optimism: Praise your child when they display hope and positivity. For example, if they face a challenge with patience and trust, acknowledge their effort and link it back to this theme.
- Nightly Reflection: Set aside time before bed to reflect on the day, thanking Allah (SWT) for the good and asking for guidance in areas of difficulty.
By working together, we can help nurture children who are resilient, optimistic, and firmly anchored in their faith in Allah (SWT).
We appreciate your continued partnership in your child’s spiritual and educational journey. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any suggestions or need further resources to engage with this theme.
Jazakum Allahu Khairan for your support,
Yours in faith and service,
