Qur’anic Reminder
وَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَانصَبْ
(Surah Ash-Sharh 94:7)
Meaning:
“So when you have finished (your duties), then stand up (for worship).”
Reflection: This verse encourages continuous devotion — once one act of worship ends, we turn to another. It reminds us that our connection with Allah doesn’t end with Ramadan, but continues beyond it.
Merit of Fasting 6 Days of Shawwal
The Prophet ️ said:
“Whoever fasts Ramadan and then follows it with six days of Shawwal, it is as if he fasted the entire year.”
— (Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1164)
Meaning: Fasting the month of Ramadan equals 10 months in reward, and the 6 days of Shawwal equal 2 months — together completing the reward of a full year of fasting.
Virtue of Fasting Mondays & Thursdays
The Prophet ️ said:
“Deeds are presented (to Allah) on Mondays and Thursdays, and I love that my deeds be presented while I am fasting.”
— (Jamiʼ at-Tirmidhi, Hadith 747)
Meaning: Fasting on these days is a way to ensure our deeds are presented to Allah in a state of worship, increasing their value and acceptance.
Fasting the Three White Days (Ayyām al-Bīḍ)
The Prophet ️ said:
“Fasting three days of every month is like fasting for a lifetime.”
— (Sahih al-Bukhari 1979; Sahih Muslim 1159)
These are the 13th, 14th, and 15th of each lunar month.
Meaning: Each good deed is rewarded tenfold, so fasting 3 days each month equals fasting the whole month — making it as if one fasts continuously.
