Significance of Eid al-Fitr

1. The Messenger of Allah ️ said:

“Every nation has its festival, and this is our festival.”

2. The Messenger of Allah ️ said:

“Allah has replaced them for you with two better days: the Day of al-Fitr and the Day of al-Adha.”

Source: Sunan Abu Dawood.

Etiquettes of Eid al-Fitr

  • Give Zakat al-Fitr before the Eid prayer.
  • Perform ghusl (ritual bath) before going for the prayer.
  • Wear your best modest clothes.
  • Eat before leaving for the Eid prayer, preferably an odd number of dates.
  • Recite the Takbir on the way to the prayer.
  • Attend the Eid prayer and join the Muslim community.
  • Take a different route when returning from the prayer.
  • Exchange greetings, such as “Taqabbalallāhu minnā wa minkum” (May Allah accept from us and from you).
