Reference: Year 9 Sadaqah Jariyah Well Fundraiser – Wednesday 28 January 2026
We are pleased to inform you that Year 9 students will be holding a Sadaqah Jariyah well fundraiser on Wednesday 28 January.
This fundraiser is a Sadaqah Jariyah project on behalf of all the families of DHLNW, with the aim of contributing towards the building of a water well. The Prophet ️ taught us the lasting reward of ongoing charity, and providing water is among the greatest forms of Sadaqah Jariyah.
The Prophet ️ said:
“When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them.” (Muslim)
Allah ﶻ says in the Qurʼaan:
“And whoever does good, it is for his own soul.” (Surah Al-Jathiyah 45:15)
And regarding water, the Prophet ️ was asked which charity is best, and he replied:
“Giving water.” (Ahmad)
On the day, students may come in non-uniform, and food will be available for purchase. Parents are also very welcome to donate towards this cause, helping us reach our goal and maximise the reward for all families involved.
Beyond fundraising, this project is an important learning opportunity. Teaching our children about Sadaqah Jariyah helps nurture a lifelong mindset of giving—one they can carry forward into adulthood and, insha’Allah, pass on to their own children in the future.
